The useful
questions first.
Short guidance based on the current product pages. For exact compatibility, safety and cure information, follow the label and technical data for the product you choose.
How do I choose a sealant?
Start with the substrate, joint movement, water or UV exposure and temperature range. Check the product label and technical data; the same material is not right for every surface.
How should I prepare a joint?
Remove loose or failed material, clean the surfaces with a compatible cleaner and let them dry. Apply and tool the bead within the product’s working time.
How long does silicone take to cure?
It depends on formula, thickness, temperature and humidity. The live FAQ gives OPTIMUS a typical full cure around a day and AutoStar multi-purpose around 24–48 hours. Follow the current product label.
What is the application range for AutoStar multi-purpose?
The source product page gives +5°C to +35°C. Check the packaging for the current specification and do not apply outside the stated range.
Can a general silicone sealant bond a windscreen?
Do not assume so. Windscreen installation is safety-critical and requires a vehicle-approved adhesive system and procedure. Use a qualified automotive glass installer.
